I'd recommend two hours. This museum has the most diverse and impressive collection of etruscan artifacts in all of Italy. It's the next best thing to actually visiting Cerveteri and Tarquinia. Because it is inside a Renaissance villa, the layout is not very traditional, like many other European museums. There are wings on both sides and it can be labyrinth like at some points. It is also handicap accessible.

To get tickets, walk through the entrance. Advance tickets are NOT necessary. I walked from Villa Borghese at a slow walk and it took about 20 minutes. The return to Villa Borghese took more time because it was uphill and the weather was warm, so I dawdled even more.

Hi Elle The museum opens 8.30 am to 7.30 pm. Take small euro coins as they don't keep a lot of change. Enjoy! Rosemary
