"We need to do a better job at protecting source waters and reducing discharges of pollutants into water bodies," researcher Laurel Schaider said.
"Forever chemicals" were recently found above levels currently considered safe in a handful of NSW drinking water sources.
"We've been focused on a small subset of these chemicals, but that's just the tip of the iceberg," a researcher said.
