Following in the footsteps of other nearby districts, the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees on Thursday approved the first reading of a policy that would force staff to "out" transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming students when they request to go by a different name or different pronouns at school.

The new policy requires staff members to notify parents if students use pronouns different from their biological sex.

In a vote Thursday, Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees approved a new controversial gender identity policy called Parent Rights and Responsibilities.

In a surprise, the superintendent said she would resign if trustees moved forward with the plan Thursday night.

It is rumored that there would be a new district, Alliance ISD, that would include Fossil Ridge, Keller Central and Keller Timber Creek, while Keller

During that special meeting the Keller ISD board of trustees did not take action on a proposal that would create a new school district by splitting the existing one.
