3 天之前 · The El Reno tornado was a powerful and deadly EF5 tornado that struck the city of El Reno, Oklahoma, and nearby areas on May 31, 2013. It was the widest tornado ever recorded, with a maximum width of 2.6 miles (4.2 km), and was also one of the most powerful tornadoes in US history, with winds estimated at up to 295 miles per hour (475 km/h).

Initially receiving an official EF3 rating based on damage, the El Reno tornado was subsequently upgraded to a radar-estimated EF5 rating, the highest on the scale, based on data from a mobile radar.
