On the bus ride home, Henry sees young sex worker Erica get hit by a man who refuses to pay her. Erica attempts to convince Henry to have sex with her, which he refuses. The next day, Henry reads aloud to the class through the essays from earlier.

2016年10月1日 · I just watched Detachment (2011) and I wondered what was the result of Erica's HIV test (one could optimistically guess that it was negative, by the ending). I don't recall any moment in the movie where it was said explicitly. It is unlikely, but I could have missed it, though. Is there any concrete info on that?

However, there is a strange implication that reflects after he sends Erica away. He takes her wrist brace and sniffs it. This implies (if just slightly) some physical attraction.

The red wall with Erica who had been raped and fighting to survive, the red suit/wall with the principal who was being forced out, the red head and and sash on Meredith before she killed herself, the 7 red chairs in the empty classroom?

2012年9月20日 · I think perhaps he sent Erica away because of his fear of attachment with someone and the fear that IF her test results turned out positive, it would be another person he had grown to love who died - another person he couldn't help (like his mother).
