Obsidian, the fusion of Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, and Steven, is enormous and powerful. But Fluorite, a fusion of six gems, is extremely slow.

2023年4月1日 · Garnet, Rhodonite, and Fluorite fuse for the sake of relationship, but other fusions we see typically happen to achieve a purpose. The Crystal Gems are of a single mind when we see them form Obsidian, but they have trouble holding Alexandrite together when not in battle. The gems that make up Fluorite seem to like to make decisions by committee.

Fluorite is one I wish they went into more. Polyamorous relationships don’t get a lot of attention in media, and since everybody’s interpretation of it is Sister Wives, it’s seen as a bad thing. Heck, I didn’t even understand the concept of being non binary or that it even existed until I watched Steven Universe.

Both the Rutile twins and Rhodonite were just hiding through all of it, and still managed to get detected by the robonoids (forcing Lars and Steven to intervene to save them, and get Lars killed), while Fluorite, being a lot bigger than them, managed to stay in hiding and not be detected and didn't have to be saved by none.
