Snider is known to many fans by his nickname "Ziggy". Snider is the 1971 USAC Silver Crown Champion and the 1981-1982 USAC Champ Car champion, the last "big car" championship to include pavement races other than the Indy 500.

George "Ziggy" Snider (born December 8, 1940, in Fresno, California) is a retired American race car driver. A longtime driver in the United States Automobile Club Silver Crown series, Snider is also a 22-time starter of the Indianapolis 500, the most starts without winning the race. His best finish was eighth in the 1975 Indianapolis 500.

Often referred to as Ziggy Snider, George raced in supermodified and modified cars in the early 1960's and was particularly good on dirt-tracks. A sprint-car race in his honour is held at Kern County Raceway in California.

The weekend will honor open wheel racing legend George "Ziggy" Snider of Bakersfield, whose impressive career took him from the nation’s dirt tracks to 22 starts at “The Indy 500” driving for legendary car owner and longtime friend, A.J. Foyt.

The “Ziggy” Classic starts Saturday, November 3rd on Dirt, and will feature Non-Wing 360 Sprint Cars, WRS Winged Sprints, and Midgets. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 pm, with opening ceremonies at 6:00 pm. Adult General Admission tickets are $15 dollars. Seniors 65 +, Kids 6 to 15, and Active Military $10 dollars, KIDS 5 and under are FREE!
