During coronavirus outbreaks, some healthcare organizations may assign powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs) to workers providing care for patients with suspected cases of disease caused by coronavirus. This document contains considerations related to cleaning and disinfecting certain 3M PAPRs after potential exposure to coronaviruses.
The purpose of this document is to prov ide suggested guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting 3M™ Reusable Respirators (RR) and Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) assemblies following potential exposure to the Ebola virus.
These guidelines are to help employers develop cleaning and disinfecting protocols for PX4 Air, PX5, and HX5 Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs), Z-Link, T-Link and T200 respirator headtops, and specifically, to select appropriate disinfecting agents for SARS-COV-2.
Proper cleaning and maintenance of the PAPR systems can be found in the specific User Instructions for the product. Clean all parts of the headgear assembly with a clean soft cloth dampened with warm ~49 °C (120 °F) water containing a mild pH neutral (pH 6-8) detergent.
