Reading certain DLLs on write-protected media fails spectacularly
2009年1月11日 · I've recently upgraded one machine from XP Pro to Vista Business 32-bit, and the other is a brand new laptop with Vista Home Premium x64. Both exhibit the following problem... or is it just me? Here's the setup: On media you can write protect (i.e., a flash drive) make a copy of mfc71.dll (usually found in Windows\system32).

I had run into this after installing Vista Ultimate. Ran into same problem 2 times, formating and reinstalling each time. Hardware is as follows--Intel D865PERLK Motherboard. 3.0GHz P4 800FSB / 2MB Cache. 2GB Dual Channel DDR (2 x 1GB) WD 250 GB 16MB CACHE SATA. nVidia Gefore FX5500 (does same thing with Vista drivers and new ones from nVidia)
