New construction allows the house wrap to be folded around the rough opening, making it easier to create a water tight seam between the window and the house wrap. 2014年11月17日 · Apply doublestick tape around window frame, apply shrink film, heat with hairdryer or heat gun to shrink, remove in spring. Quite clear, quite effective, not very easy to remove/replace if you decide to open the windows in January, though it can be removed/replaced with care if you don't trim all the excess film when installing.

I don’t know the insulation value of cardboard, but I also don’t know the insulation value of the cheap vinyl accordion flaps that come with window ac kits. I’ve used tyvac tape to seal the edges in the past. Surprisingly left no residue at all, unlike every other tape I’ve tried. I’ve also stuffed and sealed the edges with putty.

2021年12月8日 · The nicest looking for a fast fix till next spring, would be a window draft stop film. Comes with double sided tape and transparent plastic film. Go around outside of window frame with tape and stick film on, then run hair dryer over it to tighten/smooth film. –

2011年11月30日 · In a similar situation, I cut a piece of flashing to the size of the window opening, then used metal screws to attach it to the (also metal) window frame. I then sealed around the opening and the screw heads using Lexel caulk. I thought about filling in the opening with concrete afterwards but never bothered.

2016年2月3日 · Now, two things have changed: 1) the use of peel-and-stick tape, and 2) understanding that moisture that gets "in" needs a way "out". For new installations, peel-and-stick tape (you can find it in 3" or 4" widths) makes an easy way to make a positive seal against air AND moisture on all sides of the window.

2022年4月25日 · Ignore the window. Seal a flat sheet of something to the window frame on the room side, with a 6" hole in it for your duct. Something - Plexiglass or other clear plastic sheet if you want the light and are trying to do a "nice job." Cardboard and duct tape if not. Or something else, it really doesn't matter what, functionally.

2018年7月12日 · The reason for this is because of the road noise at night from the street the window faces. To seal the window kit I am using foam pipe insulation around the edges, which works quite well. The main source of noise, however, is coming from the opening between the two sections of window in the middle.
