Dow/DuPont came out with a polyiso board product – Thermax – that claims to be unusually flame resistant and can be used without a barrier (in the US at least).

Unfortunately the current terms and requirements are moderately complex. Random spotty enforcement and a lack of understanding by many inspectors doesn't help things.

Rigid foam is nice because it's R value is a tad higher per inch, but nearly the same for all practical purposes, it's light weight, and has a lesser tendency to allow water vapor to pass through it.

2016年9月21日 · The rigid foam will sit on top of the drain which will still get air flow from the unfinished basement area to address dampness. I'm wondering if I should install a vapor barrier underneath the lower portion of the rigid foam and the 2x4 base plate on the slab to further isolate any moisture in the perimeter drain. Would like any advice. Thanks.
