Other option is to go with firmer style chairs, for example even though my mesh chair has cushy buttom, my son's Razer gaming chair feels so much better and more supportive. So there are difference between firm and plush chairs in the way they support your body, I think Ikea sort of blends both of these but doesn't make a great job for the price.

I was super picky about buying an office chair because for almost 8 years I sat in probably one of the best ergonomic chairs out there. I've been using a $20 exercise ball as an office chair for years and I love it. When I was in Ikea a few weeks ago I checked out the Markus chair because I knew it was a Wirecutter pick. Felt like junk. The mechanism that prevents it from leaning back was noisy and seemed flimsy, and the back felt like it did not have the human back in mind.
