Kidderminster Town is the newest of the railway's stations, having been built by the SVR Severn Valley Railway on the site of the old Kidderminster Comberton Hill Goods Yard, which occupied the site before the railway was preserved. Passenger services began on 30 July 1984, and the station was officially opened on 4 July 1986.

Jul 10, 2024 · The Severn Valley Railway will celebrate a milestone in its history throughout the weekend of 27 and 28 July, as it marks 40 years since the opening of Kidderminster Town station. Visitors will see the recreation of the very first train to depart the embryonic station in 1984, hauled in 2024 by the same locomotive, 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’.
