Basically they use finer and finer grits till they get to 1500 g sand paper they apply some sort of oil-may be tru oil or tung oil. He says it plays like greased lightning.

2014年7月10日 · Most flamed maple isn't Eastern Maple, but Big Leaf (aka Western, aka Silver Maple). Eastern maple is very hard and doesn't actually provide much figured wood. The softer varieties are general found on tops that have much flame. Being softer, the fibers compress more readily under stress from large branches.

2008年5月14日 · Hi, guys. I'm wondering who may have the best solution to this. On one of my guitars (an '08 strat), I have a maple fretboard. It's sort of glossy on the surface. I'm used to playing on rosewood and ebony. I love the tone & the look of the maple, but I also find that it's sometimes more difficult for me to bend strings as well as I normally might.

2023年4月14日 · Except for ebony, hard maple is the least dimensionally stable wood commonly used in guitar building. It loves to allow quick moisture ingress and egress, and loves to twist, curl, and generally warp (none of this applies to properly torrefied 'roasted' maple). I'd finish it with something, even if nothing more than a wiping varnish.

2011年12月20日 · You need to achieve a certain lvl of patina on the wood itself or it will look like brand new maple with no finish on it . Sadly it does look like that on most relics and refins. Check this 62 Headstock repair , the pictures are not very good but it should give you an idea.
