This trail takes in a steep and sustained climb to the summit of Ingleborough, but rewards your efforts with great views over the surrounding area on a clear day. This summit is also the site of intriguing archaeological remains that have been attributed to a Brigantes Iron Age hillfort or even older Bronze Age cairns.

A Circular walk to Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales. Head along Southerscales Scars and Humphrey Bottom on the way to Ingleborough's summit. Ingleborough is one of the 'Yorkshire 3 Peaks' and affords wonderful panoramic views of Whernside, Pen-y-Ghent and out to Morecambe Bay and round to the Lakeland Hills.

Head on to and through Trow Gill, a narrow, steep-sided limestone gorge before arriving at Gaping Gill, a 98-metre deep pothole, and one of the most famous caves and largest underground chambers in the UK.

From Whernside's summit, the path continues to Chapel Le Dale and the Old Hill Inn. The path then crosses fields, passes limestone pavements and outcrops, and ascends a steep climb to reach Ingleborough's summit, which stands at 724 metres in height.

2018年5月12日 · The climb up Ingleborough from Ribblehead starts with a steep pul up Park Fell and ends with a leisurely crossing under the viaduct at Ribblehead.

Now begins the steep part of the walk first up Little Ingleborough then Ingleborough itself. As you reach the edge of the summit plateau (SD 744747), turn left (SW) to reach the trig. point and cross shaped shelter (SD 741746).

From here there is a very steep section climbing up to gain the ridge. Cross a stream and go through the kissing gate before a final pull up to reach the summit plateau. The summit itself is at the far side of this plateau, with a stone shelter, cairns and trig point.

Your last climb of the day. From Chapel-Le-Dale, you enter a land of limestone pavements, and the track leads you through some spectacular scenerary to your ultimate climb up the side of Ingleborough which is steep and rocky, and may require the odd hand on rock to assist you.
