I had to replace one in a chair I picked up from a thrift store last year and found that the cylinders themselves appear to be generic, so you should be able to pick up a third-party one from Amazon for about $30 and have it fit.

It’s been a while since I last got an office chair from IKEA, but the last one I had had seats that were easily flattened, lumbar supports that also flattened, trunk support couldn’t hold up my weight after a year (I weigh 200 pounds) and the one fault I couldn’t live with are the wheels. I was super picky about buying an office chair because for almost 8 years I sat in probably one of the best ergonomic chairs out there. But in the end, every human is built different and it's always good to test out these chairs first. This concludes my rather negative review of the chair.
