May 3, 2020 · I was raised to hate iceberg lettuce & never ate it. Then a year or so ago, it was the only lettuce available at a market so I got it. And... OMG. I cannot believe I went so long without it. So crunchy and fresh and delicious. I love it with Caesar dressing.

For salad greens, I mix 1/3 iceberg for texture, 1/3 spinach for nutrition, and 1/3 romaine, butter, or arugula for flavor. When it comes to burgers, the only thing that comes close to iceberg is romaine (with the exception for arugula on certain craft burgers).

Oct 15, 2022 · How did iceberg lettuce get such a bad reputation. People always think it’s trashy, boring, and flavorless. I disagree. While I like my arugula and other more bougie greens, iceberg has its place. I find it to be slightly bigger and sweet crisp and refreshing. There’s no better choice for a wedge salad or for dressing up burgers imo.

Lettuce seeds are dirt cheap and lettuce is what’s called a “cut and come again” crop. That means when you take off one leaf, it doesn’t do any real harm to the plant. Sometimes it even acts like it’s been pruned and grows faster every time you remove a leaf. This works for most salad greens (lettuce, kale, spinach, etc).

Sep 15, 2020 · Salads. Iceberg lettuce has no taste. It is just wet. Breakfast salad....lettuce, runny fried egg, shredded cheese. Wrap in a tortilla to go. Lunch salad....shredded lettuce and toppers like nuts, fruit, croutons, rotisserie chicken or bacon bits. Dinner salad...shreds are pasta. Spaghetti salad! Or shreds are base for taco salad.
