FDNY rescues two people from Sheepshead Bay

The FDNY has 16 Surf Rescue Companies throughout the city. The members of these companies have a higher level of training due to their proximity to the ocean and some more tools in their toolkit to handle water rescues. Every year, the FDNY responds to hundreds of water emergencies, most often when lifeguards are not on duty.
